Gateway2Volunteering
What does the Gateway to Volunteering Project hope to achieve?
This project will further develop 'brokerage' services matching volunteers to organisations seeking new recruits. The project will aim to 'join up' volunteering initiatives across the city, actively recruit and match volunteers to volunteering opportunities, improve volunteer management, and offer support to volunteers in terms of developing the knowledge and skills required of them to undertake volunteering roles (for example, becoming a trustee)
Key activities include:
- Establishing shared ICT-based brokerage systems, including new 'Volunteering Information Points' across the city;
- Pilot volunteer management 'Action Learning Sets';
- Setting up a citywide peer support Trustee Network, offering training and support to develop skills and share expertise.
Why has this project been developed?
To promote and encourage volunteering and to begin to plug identified gaps in volunteering roles, such as governance. The project will also help to develop the skills of volunteers and extend the range of opportunities available to those who seek these roles. It will have a particular focus on encouraging volunteers from under-represented groups.
