What does the Support to Contract Project hope to achieve?

This project will increase the ability of voluntary and community organisations to take advantage of new contractual opportunities. It will do this by increasing the business and financial skills of the sector by exploring & offering innovative ways to access and build these skills.

Key activity includes:

• Pilot training programme for VCS organizations engaged in commissioning and procurement processes for the delivery of public services
• Promoting web-based resources
• Peer group learning to increase the number of VCOs that are 'contract ready'
• Working with BSSEC's Purchasing Guide and CD ROM Resource Directory to build market intelligence on the sector's trading and delivery capacity
• Promoting and testing joint working arrangements for public service delivery

Why has this project been developed?

There is an urgent need to broaden the way in which business and financial skills are accessed and developed, to help the sector to both engage with and take advantage of public sector service delivery opportunities.
