Your resource for European Union nformation

Welcome to West Midlands European Network (WMEN). WMEN delivers a programme of training events and activities to ensure that Third Sector organisations managing projects funded from the 2000-06 WM Structural Funds programme. Amongst many of our activities we help raise awareness of the importance of good practice in project management, monitoring and evaluation, by providing training on the core competencies required by the programme in the form of â??Record Keeping for EU Funded Projectsâ??. WMEN represents the sector in terms of EU funding and staff attend and participate in the Programme Monitoring Committee (PMC) and PMC Executive to reflect the interests of Third Sector and the social partners. We also represent the sector at the Regional European Funding and Policy Group (REFPG)and work with statutory partners throughout the West Midlands to help establish and deliver policy priorities, both within the WM Structural Funds Programme, and other non-SF funds, to ensure that region continues to engage effectively with the EU. Soon it is hoped that WMEN will be contracted to provide advice and guidance on the new West Midlands Structural Funds Programme 2007-2013, the Regional Competitiveness and Employment Programme. This includes the regional ERDF element managed by AWM and the regional element of the national ESF programme managed by DWP. WMEN works with statutory bodies to advise on third Sector issues/interests and reports back to the sector on outcomes of discussions and consultations. Finally, since early 2004 WMEN has led the way in raising awareness of the regional priorities under the EUâ??s Lifelong Learning Programmes, Framework Programme 7, and the Competitiveness and Innovation Programmes.
